Renowned singer Barbara Hendricks has been exploring jazz since 1994, returning to her musical roots forged in the Negro spirituals of her father’s church in Arkansas. After years dedicated to the great names of jazz, she now delves back into the roots of the genre with a new impulse towards the blues. Her latest project, “The Road to Freedom”, pays tribute to the blues and gospel songs that supported civil rights activists, notably Martin Luther King. Hendricks brings her charm and originality to this swinging program, where her voice evolves like a fine wine, gaining in depth and warmth.
