Description
In the heart of the Sologne region, the Château de La Ferté-Imbault is the largest brick building in the Loir-et-Cher region and the oldest stronghold still standing today. Built in 980 on an ancient levelled motte, it overlooks the moat fed by the River Sauldre thanks to a succession of two terraces. Partly destroyed during the Hundred Years' War and rebuilt during the Renaissance, this Sologne castle evokes both its military past as a fortress and the grandeur of the Age of Enlightenment. Take a guided tour of the exterior, the outbuildings and part of the château to discover 1,000 years of history!
