Description
The château of Montmarin is located on a hill overlooking the Braye valley. The castle, its outbuildings and the chapel delimit a rectangular courtyard open to the west. The layout of the buildings, with Mansard roofs for the pavilions, is characteristic of the second half of the 17th century. On the courtyard side, the bay surrounds, corner quoins and cornices are in "roussin" brown stone from the Sarthe region. On the south side, facing the Braye valley, the bay surrounds and mansards are made of Touraine tuffeau. The windows have kept their original joinery, ironwork and even some of their original panes. The two main staircases, with their carved wooden balusters, also date from the 17th century.
