Château of Fougères-sur-Bièvre

Built at the end of the 15th century, the castle of Fougères-sur-Bièvre offers the image of the ideal castle with its keep, a courtyard with machicolations and its fortified entry gate. Located near a river, with its vegetable garden of medieval inspiration.
Description
A medieval castle on the road to Renaissance châteaux.
A small fortified castle built in the second half of the 15th century and the early 16th century, Fougères-sur-Bièvre features an imposing curtain wall with machicolations, a parapet walk and a keep. Through its choice of materials and techniques, this castle is a perfect illustration of the local art of building. In the 16th century, an arcaded gallery, inspired by the one in the Château de Blois, marked the rise of the Renaissance. You can visit the castle’s timber frames and its medieval-inspired garden.
The château is illuminated every evening of the year.
