In the Loire Valley, the Royal Château of Blois becomes the theatre of an unforgettable experience. In the evening, from the courtyard of the château, come and discover the history of the monument through the centuries thanks to innovative video mapping technology. Giant images projected onto the four facades of the building in the inner courtyard, sound effects… ‘Ainsi Blois vous est conté’ (Blois is told in this way). This is how Blois is told to you!

History and the Royal Castle as you’ve never seen them before

La cour du Chateau royal de Blois
R. Parard – Chateau royal de Blois

As night falls, the sound and light show at the Royal Château brings French history to life. For the images, video projections on the courtyard facades help to transform these emblematic sites. On the sound side, Robert Hossein, Pierre Arditi and Fabrice Lucchini lend their voices to tell you about some of the mysteries that have shaped the history of France. The show is strikingly realistic, and the set design allows for every kind of eccentricity: a castle that collapses, trembling in the face of Catherine de Médicis, a lively Duke of Guise…. Loves, dramas and secrets swirl around the castle’s four facades, enhanced by 360° images.

1000 years of history

The Royal Château of Blois was a favourite residence of seven kings and ten queens of France. Today, it is still inhabited by the memory of its illustrious guests. The use of video mapping, a technique that recreates movement, and the inlaying of scenes filmed for the show reinforce the narration of the most famous episodes in history.

As for the main characters, they seem reincarnated and more alive than ever. The twelve sequences presented take you back in time to the castle, from the visits of Joan of Arc and Ronsard to the murderous plots against the Duke of Guise.

The lighting effects follow the volumes of the building and project you into a 360° show: Flickering candle flames, glowing ashes, climbing roses invading the wings of the château, a spectacular stained glass window for the arrival of Joan of Arc, rain streaming down the building or a bloody façade after the assassination of the Duke of Guise… Add to this immersive sound effects and sound effects, music and the voices of French actors combined with the writing of Alain Decaux, and you’ll be captivated in a maze of sound and light!
