The 25 May 2025
OrléansDiscovering the Loire Valley by bike, the landscapes, the nature, the tranquillity… it’s all great! And discovering a town by bike, in an unusual way, with family, friends, colleagues… that’s great too! Accessible to all, Orléans Vélotour is the kind of bike ride where the only watchword is a smile! And off you go!
What is the Orléans Vélotour?

It’s a crazy event where you visit the city of Orléans in a totally different way by cycling through some unusual places! You can cycle through a museum or a hotel… The route changes every year. You’ll discover sports venues, concert halls, cultural venues, administrative buildings, green spaces… and lots of other surprises.
To make it the perfect day out, it’s a good idea to dress up – there are prizes for the best costumes 😊
Orléans Vélotour, who is it for?
For everyone! There’s no minimum age for taking part. Young and even very young children can also follow the route, you can put them in a seat, a cart… The circuit is accessible to all types of bikes. Deviation ramps are put in place on certain parts of the route where necessary to allow these ‘family’ bikes to pass.

I’m not athletic, what can I do?
That’s not a problem. This is a walk, not a race. You’re free to go at your own pace. There’s no stopwatch: you take your time and share a good time.

I don’t have a bike…
Bikes are not provided by the organisers, so you need to use your own equipment. If you don’t have what it takes to ride, you can ask at bike hire shops, or use self-service bikes if you don’t have a mount. All bikes are suitable for the Orléans Vélotour: city bikes, mountain bikes, mountain bikes, cargo bikes, gravel bikes, electric bikes, road bikes, bikes with carts, etc.

How does it work?
To take part in this ride, you need to register. Orléans Vélotour is a major event, with up to 5,000 participants! To ensure that the day’s cyclists are spread out as evenly as possible, time slots with a limited number of registrants are set for everyone’s convenience. You don’t need a valid medical certificate to sign up – this is a bike ride. And if it rains on the day, bring suitable clothing.
The route consists of a main loop of 15 to 20 km and one to three optional loops of 2 to 6 km. Refreshments, repairs, care, a broom wagon… everything is planned to make this day a party!
A day in Orléans
Before or after your bike ride, don’t hesitate to round off your visit to the city with a leisurely stroll along the banks of the Loire, which are specially laid out for this purpose. Stop off at Sainte-Croix cathedral, a marvel of Gothic architecture, and don’t forget Joan of Arc’s house, of course! Orléans will hold no more secrets for you!
