L’Espace Naturel Sensible : « Chaumes de la Périsse »
Situated in the middle of the Berry Champagne region (25 km south-east of the town of Bourges), Les Chaumes de la Périsse is the last large limestone plateau in Berry.
This exceptional site has benefited from extensive sheep pastoral management for nearly 250 years without interruption thanks to the Heurtault de Lammerville family.
In the middle of a vast cereal-growing plain, Les Chaumes de la Périsse is mainly made up of a limestone causse where a fauna and flora typical of calcicultural lawns develop. More than 40% of the protected plants typical of the thermophilic calcareous environments of Berry are present on the site. This site is only accessible within the framework of guided tours.
