Dominated by the Cistercian abbey from the 12th century, the bocage of Noirlac is located on a part of the Cher valley that is liable to flooding. Sitting on the right bank of the river, this vast plain is home to one of the few remaining bocage areas of the Cher valley that has kept its original aspects. This natural site is almost exclusively exploited by farmers that have been working to maintain its typical hedges and pastures. The floods of the Cher have a major influence on the landscape and feed 427 species including 260 plants and 50 birds.
