We all love strolling around a market. Local produce, colours and smells all mingle, making you want to try everything. Get your basket ready, we’re taking you to the markets of the Loire Valley!
Markets in Orléans

In Orléans, markets are held throughout the week in the squares and along the banks of the Loire. What can I put in my basket? Seasonal fruit and vegetables (in May and June, asparagus has pride of place), Gâtinais honey, fresh eggs and even locally brewed beers will make your mouth water.
Don’t miss the main markets in Orléans:
- Wednesdays from 3pm to 7.30pm: town centre market, Place de la République
- Fridays from 4.30pm to 9.30pm: night market, Place du Martroi
- Saturday mornings from 7.30am to 12.30pm: Quai du Roi market, on the banks of the Loire (Quai du Roi).
Markets in Tours
The city of Tours is also bustling with lively markets. Colour and flavour are the order of the day. Among the highlights you’ll find on the producers’ stands are, of course, cheeses, starting with Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine and its famous straw. Then there are the Touraine rillons and rillettes and Géline de Touraine (a small black hen renowned for its fine meat)… you’ll want to try it all!
Don’t miss the main markets in Tours:
- Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7.30am to 12.30pm: Halles de Tours market, Carreau des Halles, Place Paillhou
- Thursdays from 8.30am to 12.30pm: Velpeau market, Place Velpeau
- Sundays from 8am to 12.30pm: Marché Rabelais, Place Rabelais and Marché Velpeau, Place Velpeau
Markets in Blois

Fill your basket with good local produce: vegetables and fruit come and go with the seasons. When the sun comes out, it will be hard to resist the tangy flavour of the little Sologne strawberries. You’ll also be tempted by a goat’s cheese from Selles-sur-Cher which goes perfectly with a glass of Cheverny, for example.
Don’t miss the main markets in Blois:
- Fridays from 4pm to 8pm: organic market, Quai Amédée Contant
- Saturdays from 8.30am to 1.15pm: City Centre market, Place Louis XII
Some of the many other markets in the Loire Valley

As you stroll through our towns and villages, you’ll discover markets all over the place: Briare, Sully-sur-Loire, Meung-sur-Loire, Beaugency, Amboise, Loches, Chinon, Langeais, Lamotte-Beuvron, Montrichard, Romorantin-Lanthenay, Vendôme… Don’t miss these tasty and convivial events! In Orléans (Tuesday to Saturday and Sunday mornings) and in Tours (Monday to Saturday and Sunday mornings), the Halles are also home to a host of gourmet stalls packed with delicious seasonal produce!
